My parents are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Mom and Dad were married in Kansas City, KS, their hometown. They
didn't have time for a honeymoon, being students at the time, and
having class in a couple of days. My dad had proposed to my mom at his
parents' house in August or September (apparently no one knows the
exact date). Daddy caught her a bit off guard. She accepted. The
rest, as they say, is history. And the years have just flown by, I'm
sure!
50 years is a huge deal and very special, of course, and we weren't able to be there. I've been bummed about this for months - shed many tears, spent several sleepless nights, and tried to come up with a million different ways to work things out. Jerry Mark, Ann, the kids, and Timmy took them out for dinner and had cake, so they did celebrate quite wonderfully yesterday. I just wish we could have been there, too.
Anyway, at the last second (last Sunday - thank goodness, for Amazon.com's membership deal with free two-day shipping), I thought of getting them a webcam, so we could at least see each other on their anniversary. What a brilliant idea!!! It was especially brilliant that I had the camera sent to Jerry Mark's house. I've made that mistake before - well, their street names are so similar! It was even more of a problem, unfortunately, because Jerry Mark moved out of that house several months ago. So, after a whole huge rigmarole, we were able to have a video call last night. It was great to see, not only my parents, but Jerry Mark, his family, and Timmy.
