I was thinking more on our Cherokee, IA experience. In addition to driving all over creation looking for Queen Anne's Lace, I had a couple of other interests that had us driving out in the countryside: Barns, cemeteries, and clouds. I know I drove my parents crazy when we'd drive past something interesting, and I'd insist we stop and check things out. As far as the barns went, I was mostly interested in those that were old, dilapidated, and abandoned.
As I was blog-reading this afternoon, I happened to stop at Sally Jean's. She had a wonderful mosaic of old, antique items. This got me to thinking: What can I mosaic? Since I was still in a Cherokee mood, I remembered the barns we'd see as we'd go driving by. I went to Flickr to see if there were any Iowa barns. Lo, and behold, there were! Seeing these, and many more, brings back more very fond memories of those visits to see my parents. I'm sure it brings back memories for them as well (I don't know how fond those memories might be).
